Ivan Aasten - EP 1

  Russian born, Danish raised, an arctic island hopper, an entrepreneur, a passionate chef, and aspiring gym fanatic. Living on the island for many years Ivan has enjoyed the arctic outdoors, explored wonders of this icy landscape, and is a proud owner of a segway. His dream is to save the town from polar bear invasion by duel-wielding his set of samurai swords. He is, the one and only,  the Northernmost Segway Man.

 After a few years in Longyearbyen, Chicco, quit his day job and started living his dream, starting his own production company, becoming a world known photographer and film producer.  While an everyday 'Average Joe' has a twenty-four hours in a day, it seems Ben has to have at least thirty. He is an entrepreneur, a DJ, a bus driver, a 'foodie', and a father. He is everywhere!  Although she lives in the arctic, she doesn't care much for the cold, just a cold beer. After working for two years as a hospitality professional in the arctic, Ida now finds herself as the head of the visitor centre and administration at the northernmost brewer in the world - Svalbard Bryggeri. There she serves their products and educates people about the science of brewing a good beer.   svalbardbryggeri.no

 A Norwegian who came up to Svalbard to work, travel, and save funds for her second time volunteering in Greece to help aid the Refugee Situation. After volunteering in Ghana she realised how fortunate she was, and decided to focus her efforts on helping those in need. Ina is now becoming a member of The Hero Centre, in Chios, Greece to aid in humanitarian efforts.   herocentre.org

 Not only does he put the sir in Ser William, he is also a true English gentleman, trained in the British Military and studied law in Staffordshire University. Ten years ago his nomad spirit brought him to the west coast Norway, where he came to experienced the Scandinavian culture clash and discovered the norwegian language. After a few years enjoying the arctic life, Thomas is now hoping to explore warmer longitudes.

 Emigrating from the south of Sweden, with the goal of seeing polar bears and beluga whales, she now finds herself entering her fourth year on the island. A few years ago Linda was able to live one of her dreams by traveling to India to study the practices and disciplines of yoga. With her yoga classes she's helped the community to breath, teaching her clients to listen to their body and focus on a healthy lifestyle, also while enjoying the good things in life.

 In March 2016, Marcos Astete packed his bags and left the capital of Sweden to indulge in a completely different lifestyle, arctic life. With the rifle over his shoulder, he is now fearlessly exploring the snowclad peaks that we’re surrounded by here on Svalbard. He’s arguably the bravest of the bravest, facing the night shifts and its ghosts with open arms. His love for films, especially the horror genre, makes him the ultimate guest for our Halloween episode.

 ason came up to train as an arctic guide, however, after he stumbled into  Benjamin Vidmar’s project  ( featured in Episode 3 ) he volunteered his experience and became a guide at the dome. Originally from South Carolina, Rutherford has been travelling the world, volunteering with different projects including permaculture and guerilla gardening in California and helping at a school in Costa Rica. His big goal is to start a sustainable community in a very remote location!

Malin Grahndin - EP 12

 Josefina's longtime friend, Malin, joins us on the podcast to break the ice and introduce our new segment "Terrorizing the Locals". Having a steading on and off again relationship with Longyearbyen Malin returns for her sixth year in the Arctic to pursue her goal of mastering the dance of Lindy Hop and training in the ways of teaching. Malin finds herself enduring another dark season and seeking guidance from Josefina on how to brew a perfect jar of Kombucha, a fermented black or green tea with supposed health benefits.

 Knowing every bump, every curve, and every hole in the road makes Wiggo Antonsen enjoy living in this northernmost community. After driving a taxi for several years, on this forty-two kilometer stretch of road, he was approached by a TV crew and featured the BBC series 'Ice Town: Life on the Edge'. Now a local celebrity, recognized by many tourists who enjoy the 'In a Nutshell' tour of Longyearbyen and his many stories. Wiggo ensures that his guests enjoy themselves asking during departure, "How was it?"
